46 Days Until Christmas!
When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I’m feeling sad, I simply remember my favorite things and then I don’t feel so bad.
I bet you recognize those lyrics. They are from the Sound of Music. The song talks about a person’s favorite things: raindrops on roses and warm whiskers on kittens; bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens.
The implication in the song is when life is difficult or hard, you remember your favorite things to cheer you up, to help you see the bright side, to remember there is something better.
I want this blog to be that for you this Christmas season. I want you to have something positive to look at each day as we near the celebration of Jesus’ birth. No doubt, you will have some difficult days leading into Thanksgiving and Christmas. No doubt your plans won’t all work out or come together at all. Whatever situation you find yourself in, I pray you will find comfort, joy, and peace.
What are your favorite things? What will you look to for comfort, joy, and peace this Christmas season? The angels said, “I bring you good news of great joy for all people.” The shepherds heard that message and though they were not with their families, those they were sitting with some smelly sheep, they found real joy that night. You can find it to if your favorite things include the real reason for the season.
