32 Days Until Christmas!
What was the greatest gift you ever received as a kid? Maybe it was expensive, unexpected, or unthinkable. It could have been the year you opened that diamond ring, that Playstation 1,2,3,4 or 5, maybe it was sentimental and it brought tears to your eyes.
Often, the price tag is not the most important part of a gift being great, though it can be a factor. It’s the thought, the sentiment, the intentional effort put into it. It’s the revealing of knowing someone so well that this gift means a lot.
There was a fourth gift given from the wise men. Did you realize the wise men gave Jesus four gifts? I know you are thinking there were only there, but that’s not completely true. There was another. That gift: worship. It says they bowed down and worshipped him.
This is more important than gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Worship demonstrated what the wise men really believed. They believed that Jesus was the promised king from God. Bowing down demonstrated they would be submissive to the King of Kings.
This Christmas, the greatest gift you can ever give is worship to Jesus. Don’t forget that. Share that. Don’t let your Christmas be defined by shiny paper under a tree (though I am a huge fan of gifts!). Look for something much deeper and more meaningful. Worship.
