18 Days Until Christmas!
Today is a day that was once said will live in infamy. Though before my time and just about anybody’s time who is reading this, today is the day Pearl Harbor was attacked. This action would bring The United States directly into World War 2. Up to this point, the United States had supplied certain countries with goods and materials to help their war efforts but had physically stayed out of the conflict. This is the day that would change our involvement.
What were the results of the United States involvement in World War 2? Well, we could list the loss of life, the boom to the economy, the number of families that would not have a dad, son, or brother return home, the high influx of women into the workplace, and so on. Some of those are good and some of those are bad. But these results happened because The United States was pulled off the sidelines by a direct attack.
Christmas is the time when we remember God stepped onto our field. God stepped out of Heaven and onto Earth through His Son, Jesus. Though God was not silently sitting by or ignoring us before then, this is the season we remember when God entered the struggle with us. The scriptures tells us that Jesus would be called, “Immanuel, God with us.” Jesus was God in the flesh and He would enter the struggle of life with us so He could relate to our problems, pains, and challenges. He would do this ultimately to prepare a way for us to join Him in a place He is preparing for those that trust Him.
Whether you are down because of the pandemic, war in the world, or challenges in your family, find peace in the God who joined us in this life that first Christmas by sending Jesus. Today might be a day that will live in infamy. Let Christmas be a season that reminds us we have peace with God. Peace on earth and goodwill towards all people.
