14 Days Until Christmas!
The ghost of Christmas past is either pleasant or haunting. You can’t do anything about it as it is in the past. What you can do is make the present as good as it can be.
So what will you do to make this Christmas worth remembering? What will you do to avoid letting another December roll into January with only credit card debt to show for it? What will make this year memorable for you and your loved ones?
I’m going to let you in on a little secret: it’s not going to be the presents. As a kid, presents are definitely something you remember. As an adult, you may remember presents but what is more important is the feelings associated with presents, family time, and devotional time with God. What are you going to do this year to enhance the positive emotions surrounding your Christmas?
When Scrooge woke up from his night with the ghosts, he was so relived to find out it was still Christmas and he went work making it the best he could. He sent a large turkey to the Cratchet family that could not afford it. He gave to the poor. He thanked the carolers. He went to visit his family and while with them he said, “God forgive me for the time I’ve wasted.” Don’t waste another Christmas with meaningless moments. Make memories that will last.
That’s exactly what God did that first Christmas. Luke 2, “Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in highest heaven,
and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”
